LONG LAKE WILDFIRES COMPLEX, ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1:00 PM
The Long Lake wildfires complex remains out of control and is still estimated at 8,468 hectares. There are no new reports of damage. Re-entry for some evacuees begins today, visit https://annapoliscounty.ca/ for more details.
Crews are wrapping up work on the northern end of the fire. This area has solid protections in place. Aircraft will monitor for any changes in this area that would require crews to move back to protect structures.
Crews and machinery are repositioning to the fire’s southern end to build additional dozer guards and protections. Aircraft are dropping large amounts of water in this area.
Ten helicopters, four planes and a bird dog are in action. Firefighters on site are: four Department of Natural Resources, 61 Ontario, 40 Quebec, 65 local. There are about 50 pieces of heavy machinery.
There are four stages of a wildfire: out of control, being held, under control, and extinguished. Evacuation decisions are not necessarily tied to the wildfire status. While good progress is being made on the Long Lake wildfire, its status is still out of control.

The Long Lake wildfires complex remains out of control, still estimated at 8468 hectares. There are no new reports of damage. Crews have made good progress with dozer guards and laying hose lines, and aircraft water drops were very successful yesterday.
Resources today include 10 helicopters, four planes and a bird dog in action. Firefighters on site include four Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 60 Ontario, 40 Quebec, and 60 local, along with about 30 pieces of heavy machinery.

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and estimated at 8468 hectares. There are no new reports of damage. Morale is high as crews make good progress around the perimeter. Aircraft are dropping water, making it safe for ground crews to tie in hose lines and advance inward on the fire.

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and estimated at 8468 hectares. While good progress has been made around the perimeter, it’s still unsafe for public to enter the fire zone. High winds are expected later today which may affect fire behaviour.
Resources today include 12 helicopters, and about 30 pieces of heavy machinery. Firefighters on site include 24 Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 18 Ontario, 40 Quebec, and 60 local. The next update will be around midday tomorrow.

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still estimated at 8468 hectares. There are no new reports of damage. While crews have wrapped the perimeter of the wildfire with fire breaks – a mix of dozer guards and hose lines – the fire is still out of control.
Firefighters are now advancing from the perimeter inward on the fire. In some areas, they are in 150 to 300 feet. After a very dry day yesterday, rain is expected in the area today which will help the firefighting effort.
Resources on hand include 40 Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 18 Ontario, 40 Quebec and 60 local firefighters, along with 12 helicopters, 4 planes plus bird dog, and about 5 pieces of heavy machinery. The next update will be around midday tomorrow.
