6:30pm Update
LONG LAKE WILDFIRES COMPLEX, ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, AUGUST 25, 6:30 PM
The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and now estimated at 8026 hectares. The fire has advanced along both sides of Paradise Lake. Assessment of yesterday’s damage is ongoing. Beyond that, no new reports of damage to homes.
While the rain was welcome, it was not enough to make a real difference. It bought some time for crews to make progress, but it will take days of steady rain to help get the wildfires complex under control.
The same ground resources are on the scene. Weather prevented planes from flying but six helicopters have been working on the fire. Heavy equipment operators resumed building dozer guards.
The next update will be tomorrow morning.
