Travel and Activities In Woods are Restricted

Starting 5 August (at 4pm), travel and activities in woods are restricted to help prevent wildfires. Hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods are not permitted, trail systems through woods are off limits and camping is allowed only in campgrounds. LONG LAKE WILDFIRES COMPLEX, ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, AUGUST 24, 1 PM

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and likely to grow beyond the current estimated 3255 hectares with extreme fire conditions today. All efforts are being made to save homes.

The incident command post is relocated and operating in Bridgetown. The same air and ground crews continue to focus on the West Dalhousie area while heavy machinery works on flanks. Next update this evening.


LONG LAKE FIRE COMPLEX, ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, AUGUST 24, 9:45 AM

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control. Growth beyond the current estimated 3255 hectares is likely today due to extreme fire conditions. All efforts are being made to save homes. Incident command post has moved to Bridgetown. Keeping people safe is our top priority.

The wind is pushing the fire toward the West Dalhousie area, air and ground resources are focusing efforts there. Aircrafts today include six helicopters, six planes plus bird dogs. On scene today include 56 Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 62 Ontario and 54 local firefighters. Heavy machinery is still working on flanks.

Mandatory Evacuation Expanded

Mandatory Evacuation Expanded Further for West Dalhousie, Annapolis County.

Morse Road - Thorne Road.

Expanded area from civic #571 to 1073 Morse Rd and civic #'s 4272 and 4291 on Thorne Road.

Avoid the area if not affected.

Evacuees must check in at Emergency Reception Centre at Bridgetown Fire Department, 31 Bay Rd.

Information: 1-833-806-1515 (do NOT call 911 unless emergency).

6pm - Long Lake wildfire is still out of control, and expected to grow.

There’s a high risk of fire spreading along Highway 10, Annapolis Co: all streets around Trout, Zwicker and East Lakes; Old Liverpool Rd, Che-Boag-A-Nish Rd and West Dalhousie Rd in Albany Cross.

Be prepared to evacuate in the event an evacuation order is given. Avoid the area if not affected. Stay tuned to local news and follow directions of local authorities.

If a wildfire threatens your home, you will need to leave quickly.
